How To Clear Your Browser Cache
Added 18 of February 2009 (647 views)
Clearing your browser cache in Firefox is an easy process. First, open Firefox and select "Tools" from the top menu bar. On the drop down menu, select "Options." A small box should pop up with a number of tabs at the top. Go to the "Privacy" tab. At the bottom of the box, find "Private Data" and then click on "Clear Now." On the screen that opens, check the box marked "Cache." If you wish to erase the addresses (URLs) of web pages you've visited, also check "Browsing History." Make sure the boxes for data you don't want to be erased, such as cookies or passwords, are not checked. Then click "Clear Private Data Now." This should successfully clear your Firefox browser cache.
To clear your browser cache in Internet Explorer, first open an Internet Explorer window and select "Tools" from the top menu bar. On the drop down menu, select "Delete Browsing History." In the box that pops up, you are shown the options for which part of your browsing history you would like to clear. If you are not worried about losing passwords or other saved form data, simply click "Delete all" at the bottom of the form. (If you are unsure whether you want to delete form data, you can click the "About deleting browser history" link at the bottom of the box.
If still unsure, do not click "Delete all.") If you would not like to delete all data, click on the option to delete "Temporary Internet Files." A confirmation box should open. You may want to check that the box next to "Also delete files and settings stored by add-ons" is not checked unless you are sure you wish to delete this data. Once you have done this, in the confirmation box, click "Yes." This should successfully clear your Internet Explorer cache. If you would also like to erase the addresses (URLs) of web pages you've visited, click the box to delete "History."
