How To Restart Internet Connection

Added 18 of February 2009 (783 views)

In some cases when you are connected to the Internet, you may need to restart your internet connection due to some connectivity issues, such as websites not being able to load when you enter their URL in your web browser.

This will simply close your current connection to your internet and open a new one, and should correct most temporary internet connectivity problems.

This is how you restart your internet connection in Windows:

- First, you would need to disconnect your current connection. With most dial-up and DSL connections, you will have an icon in your system tray (area located near the time at the bottom right of your screen) that shows two small computers with flashing screens. Right click on the icon, and select "disconnect".

- Then to reconnect, simply find the icon for your internet connection that you use to sign in to your internet provider. This is usually found by going to the Start menu, then "Connect to" and then selecting the appropriate connection name. Then enter your username and password if these weren't already filled in, and press the "Connect" button.

If this method fails, and you are using a DSL modem, you can also find the power button on your modem in order to turn it off. Wait a few seconds, then turn it back on again, and try signing in again to your internet provider.
